Yup, all year long I wait for this day...September 21st. THE FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN! It's my favorite time of year. I'm energized but the chill in the air. I want to open all the windows and air out the house, turn on Brooks and Dunn and listen to Boot Scooten Boogie while I sweep out all the hot air and humidity that the summer brought.
I love to listen to the crackling leaves as the dear run through the yard on their morning jaunt down to the river. The sound of all those acorns falling off the oak trees on to the barn in the back makes me smile, as does watching the squirrels and chipmunks gather their food stuffs for storage but they sure make Cooper crazy!
I'm anxiously awaiting the fall colors and soon it will be clam-bake time .... oh the smell of that broth and those chickens on the grill....mmm, mmm, mmm, I can hardly wait!
